The book is illustrated by Alfred Rudolfovich Eberling (1871-1950) - Russian artist, illustrator, professor of the Academy of Arts. On the last pages of the publication published facsimile manuscript M.Yu.Lermontov from the Lermontov Museum in St. Petersburg (currently stored at the Pushkin House Museum). This edition is one of the best examples of printing art and is distinguished by artistic performance. The format, fonts and paper quality were carefully thought out for it. Some of the copies from the circulation were numbered. In 1886-1889. A. Eberling studied in the Warsaw drawing class, since 1894. he studied in the workshop of I. E. Repin. In 1898. he made a trip to Constantinople, where he worked on church paintings. In 1900-1912. he spent the summer months in Italy, worked as a portraitist and landscape painter. He participated in international exhibitions in Berlin (1896), Venice (1905, 1914), World Exhibitions in St. Louis and New York (1904-1905). In the 1900-1930s he taught at the Drawing School of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, as well as in a number of other educational institutions.
