Antique memorial sign 5x3 cm. (medal) of the religious organization Church of England Temperance Society (CETS) - Church Sobriety Society of England. Made in the late XIX - early XX century (Victorian / Ludrdian era). The obverse: In the center of the oval shield is the Archangel Michael, who defeats the snake (symbol of the fight against temptations and vice). Around the inscription: "CHURCH OF ENGLAND TEMPERANCE SOCIETY". On the rays of the cross are placed the letters of the abbreviation of the organization: C, E, T, S. Reverse: In the center of the plant ornament, a well-known biblical quote from 1 Corinthians (10:31): "WHETHER YE EAT OR DRINK DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD" ("So when you eat, or when you drink...do everything to the glory of God"). An interesting and relatively rare subject of religious faleristics and the history of European sobering movements. Status: Good collection condition, clear relief, beautiful natural patina. There are insignificant natural traces of time and minimal oxides (greenish plaque), the metal was not cleaned and restored. Working eye for hanging.
