Production of ceramics in Delft began in the XVI century. The dawn of production and the appearance of the famous white-blue pattern occurred in the middle of the XVII century, when the Chinese and Japanese porcelain began to appear on the European market. At that time, in Delft, as in many cities of Europe, tried to imitate the fashionable Asian porcelain. Subsequently, Dutch manufacturers have developed their own unique style, which embodied in the faience. The marks on the bottom belong to the Belgian manufacturer Boch Keramis (period 1841-1930). The company was founded in 1841 and has been based in La Louvière since 1844. The founder of Boch Keramis is also the founder of the iconic German company Villeroy&Boch.
