The book is decorated with many paintings and drawings (more than 400). From the works of Wilhelm Wegner, Ellada and Rome were translated into Russian. Ellada was published in the first edition in 1862 and was published five times before the revolution. The author of the book laboriously collected materials about the cradle of European civilization - Hellas and its people from pre-literate times, which were reflected in these archeology and myths, and to the era of Hellenism, and developed his own concept based on the works of predecessors and analysis of all available sources at that time.
