1895-1905. With a portrait of the author and drawings in the text. Posthumous edition. Kiev. Type. 1 Kiev Artel of the Printed Business. 1910. XI, 150, [2] p. Hardcover, Qualitative Novel, Encyclopedic format. Ten years have passed since the Tsushima tragedy erupted, taking so many valiant heroes to their graves. Since then, there have been quite a few materials in the press, one way or another covering both the general state of our maritime affairs before and during the war with Japan, and the causes of the Tsushima disaster. The first place among these materials belongs, undoubtedly, to the testimony of persons who were direct observers of the events, the logical consequence of which was the death of our fleet at Tsushima. He, together with Lieutenant N.P. Bogdanov and Ensign V. von Kursel-Werner and a handful of the team took a martyr's death for his homeland on the battleship Prince Suvorov, who died in the Tsushima battle. These letters, covering 10 years of P.A.'s life. From his stay in the Marine Corps to the eve of the Tsushima Battle (the last letter was written on April 20, 1905), Vyrubova gives, in a simple, foreign story, a vivid picture of the life of a Russian sailor, revealing at the same time a lot of interesting details about our Chinese campaign of 1900 and especially the last war with Japan. This fact mainly prompted the publication of these letters. 2) Far East, Chinese campaign. 3) The way back from the Far East to the Baltic Sea, mine classes and on the eve of the war with Japan. The letters are illustrated with drawings, most of which are borrowed from photographic photographs of the late P. A. Vyrubov.
