These banknotes were issued during the monetary reform on December 16, 1979, replacing the "liberation" kip of Pathet Lao at a rate of 100:1. Description of the banknote The design of the banknote reflects the socialist ideology of the country of that time: The front side (avers): The workers of the sawmill are depicted loading logs into a woodworking machine. On the right is the coat of arms of Laos (version 1975-1991) with a five-pointed star, sickle and hammer. At the top is an inscription in Lao language: "Lao People's Democratic Republic". The reverse side (reverse): It presents scenes from the health sector: a nurse with a stethoscope in a child and doctors conducting a surgical operation. In the center on the right in a decorative pattern is indicated by a denomination in Lao language - "Ten Kip". Security features: The banknote has a watermark in the form of a repeating pattern of sickle, hammer and star throughout the field. There is no security thread.
