Preface: As private and public accident and disability insurance has spread, one phenomenon has become more and more apparent that deserves the most serious attention from insurance companies and governments, and especially from doctors who are experts. We are referring to the simulation and exaggerated depiction of painful phenomena and damages in order to obtain illegal benefits on the basis of insurance terms. To put an end to the spread of this evil, which grew up on the fertile soil of insurance, and, above all, to give the expert’s doctor a guiding thread by which he could, on the one hand, avoid unjust conclusions, and, on the other, secure himself from deception and lies, is the task of this work. Practical doctors now have to almost daily give opinions on insurance issues. Therefore, this book is compiled in such a way that it is the practical doctor who does not have the knowledge of specialists to give in a public statement those instructions that are necessary in doubtful cases to distinguish truth from lies. We hope that this book will achieve this goal.
