The magazine "Free Ukrainian School" (USH) - the first general pedagogical magazine, published in Kiev from September 1917 to January 1920. It served as an organ The All-Ukrainian Teachers’ Union continued to develop the ideas of the Ukrainian national school, started by the magazine “Light”. The editors-in-chief of the magazine were Spiridon Cherkasenko and Alexander Doroshkevich. Among the authors and members of the editorial board were such famous figures as O. Astryab, L. Beletsky, G. Holoskevich, O. Hrushevsky, V. Durdukovsky, M. Zerov, O. Muzychenko, I. Ogiyenko, S. Rusova, S. Siropolko, I. Steshenko, P. Kholodny, J. Chepiga and others. On the pages of the journal the issues of creating a national education system were discussed, School reform based on European pedagogy, Official documents published, Decisions of teacher congresses, As well as materials on the theory and practice of school business, a total of 25 issues were published during the existence of the journal. Issue No2 for 1918-1919 contains articles devoted to the reform of Ukrainian education and the creation of a single national school. In particular, this issue published an article by Alexander Muzychenko “The Question of a Unified School in Ukraine”, where the author analyzes the concept of a single school and its introduction into the Ukrainian educational system. Also in this issue published an article "To the history of a single school in Ukraine" by O. M. which considers the historical aspects of the formation of a single school in Ukraine. These publications reflect the desire of Ukrainian teachers of the time to create a national education system and reform the school in accordance with European pedagogical standards.
