Mikhail Nikolayevich Pokrovsky (1868-1932) - Russian historian, statesman, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1910-13, the main work of M.N. Pokrovsky - 5-volume "Russian history from ancient times", which became the first fundamental systematic coverage of the history of the country from a materialistic point of view, from the primitive communal system to the end of the XIX century. According to the concept of Pokrovsky, the historical development of Russia, like any other country, is based on economic processes that affect all social, political and dynastic changes in the country. After the death of Pokrovsky, scientific and political accusations were made against him and his school. This caused the posthumous persecution of the scientist, the removal from the libraries of all his works. The charges against Pokrovsky were dropped only in 1962. Const.
