The liberation of Russian culture from the tutelage and interference of the church was one of the most important results of the transformational activity of Peter I. At the beginning of the 18th century, the names of writers began to appear in Russian literature one after another, neither belonging nor the image of their thoughts not related to the spiritual class or the authority of the church. This list opens with the name of Antiochus Dmitrievich Kantemir (1708-1744), whose literary activity by its purposefulness and social significance can be safely called a feat.
