Nobel Prize winner in medicine (1913). Richet worked in the field of toxicology, for his work on anaphylaxis in 1913. He was awarded the Nobel Prize. During the First World War he was engaged in problems of blood plasma transfusion. In parallel with his physiological work, R. maintained his early interest in hypnotism and psychology. He was secretary of the 1st International Psychological Congress (Paris, 1889), whose Honorary President was J.M. Charcot. After the congress, Charcot and Richet founded the French Society of Physiological Psychology (Societe de psychologie physiologique). In 1882 he joined the Society of Psychical Research, founded by F. Myers, whose members carefully selected the most trustworthy ones from the reports of mediumistic experiments and tested them. He contributed to the fact that one of the mediumistic practices (automatic writing) was used in pathopsychological research of hysteria.
